Abstract Bottle ShotCOMING SOON THIS FALL

Abstract
Dave Phinney, Winemaker

If you've had any of our wines, then you probably know something about Dave Phinney even if you've never heard of him.  Maker of The Prisoner, Papillon, Beau Vigne, Mercury Head, Cavus and Stanton Wines, Dave crafts vintages full of fruit and complexity that people just simply can't get enough of.  Now Dave is back with a new release called Abstract, bottled by Orin Swift.

2009 Abstract is inspired by the wines Dave Phinney has been drinking in the Pyrénées-Orientales over the past two years.  In this mountainous outpost of the Roussillon, Dave has recently started making wine at his own small winery.  He wanted to make something from similar varietals (back here at home) that you can open and enjoy every day.

Abstract is a blend of Grenache, Petite Sirah and Syrah from vineyards primarily in Sonoma County.  The aromas are all berry and black fruits with neatly integrated caramelized oak.  A huge entry coats the mouth.  The wine has tons of weight on the mid-palate and is dense with layers of ripe cherry and strawberries.  The finish is laced with long soft tannins that go on and on.

Abstract will be available this fall.  Be sure to ask your sales rep about the pre-sell details.

We Hate Spam

That's right, we do.  Not the canned meat, but the annoying emails that drown your inbox on a daily basis.  And we're betting that you do, too.

The good news is that the Pioneer Wine Company does not intend to spam you.  You may have noticed that you received an invitation and reminder to our 2010 Portfolio Tasting over the past couple of weeks (which, if you made it, we hope you enjoyed, by the way).  And, if you're reading this, you've stuck with us, which is awesome.

What you'll see in your inbox in the future are a couple of emails a month from us that give you an insight into our products:  What we taste, what we love, and what we think you'd like, too.  Our newsletters will contain the stories of our wines, their ratings, and a whole lot of other really useful stuff you can use to get more information about our wines.

You can ensure you receive our newsletters by adding Pioneer Wine Company to your "Safe Address" list.  There are a lot of different names for it, but essentially make sure you mark us a good email, not junk.  At the bottom of all our emails you can click the link to update your email profile with us.  If you don't want your emails in HTML style, you can let us know.  Reading email on your mobile device?  Just tell us through your profile, and we'll make sure you get our email blasts in the style that works for you.

Finally, don't forget to follow us on Facebook.  In addition to all the stuff we've just mentioned, you'll get to see photos of our antics, and undoubtedly a surprise or two will pop up from time to time.

So sit back, relax, and don't worry, there's no hard sell here, just interesting information about our great wines.  And, we promise, no canned meat.
