Chateau Meyney
Built on a rise that lies close to the Gironde estuary, the château lies
at the centre of a vineyard covering 123 acres. In the 17th century the property belonged to monks who were the first to plant
vines at Meyney. Here the soil is composed of layers of stones and
gravel that drain extremely well, providing perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, associated with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This combination produces a full-bodied wine that has both flesh
and bones, and which develops with time the unique charm of the best
from Saint-Estephe.
Since the acquisition of Château Meyney in 2004 by CA Grands Crus, an
improvement plan has been put in place for the entire estate. This is
supervised by Bernard Monteau, the technical director, and abetted by
advice from the consultant oenologist, Denis Dubourdieu.
