89 Points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, 2010

"Bright medium ruby. Ripe, slightly reduced aromas of plum and pepper. Sweet, silky and very ripe, with a distinctly chocolatey character. Not as complex as the Pizzella malbec but boasts sound vinosity and more obvious sweetness. Finishes with dusty, slightly drying tannins. This is from old, low-yielding vines in a warm site southeast of Agrelo, while the Angel Paulucci is from the cooler La Consulta area."

88 Points, Wine Spectator, 2009

"Very flattering, with a lush core of blueberry, fig sauce and raspberry fruit that glides through the spice-tinged finish. This has a nice polished feel. Drink now."

88 Points, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, 2009

"The 2008 Malbec Angel Paulucci Vineyard spent 12 months in 20% new French oak. It is a glass-coating opaque purple with a pleasing perfume of cedar, spice box, violets, and black cherry. Structured in the mouth, it is balanced by plenty of succulent fruit. Drink it over the next 4-5 years."

Tasting Notes

Vibrant red color with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and violets wafting from the glass along with notes of toasty oak. On the palate, the fresh berry flavors mingle with spice notes and there’s a hint of soft caramel on the finish. This is a creamy, medium-bodied and well-structured wine that is incredibly full of life. Goes great with everything from hamburgers and chicken to pasta and mild cheeses.
