07 Malbec
90 Points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, 2010
"Deep ruby-red. Dark fruits, tobacco and roast coffee on the nose. Silky-sweet but with brisk acid support giving the middle palate a juicy quality and a light touch. Combines New World black raspberry fruitiness with Old World structure. Nuanced, rather backward wine from a 90-year-old vineyard."
90 Points, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, 2009
"Mendel's 2007 Malbec was sourced from a 45-acre parcel of 80-year-old vines in Lujan de Cuyo and aged for 12 months in French oak. Purple-colored, it displays an alluring bouquet of cedar, spice box, violets, and black cherry. Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, it has plenty of savory fruit, cinnamon and allspice notes, excellent depth and concentration, and a fruit-filled finish. This stylish effort will evolve for 2-3 years and deliver prime drinking from 2011 to 2019."
90 Points, Wine Spectator Insider, 2009
"A very ripe and flattering style, with fruitcake and spice notes up front, followed by creamy, inviting blueberry, boysenberry and licorice flavors that linger through the finish. Nice buried acidity keeps it all together."

Tasting Notes
Incredible dark red/purple color. The aromas of sweet French oak and espresso get more complex with every swirl of the glass, unveiling black plum, ripe raspberry, and violet aromas. The wine is full-bodied, dense, deep and chewy with flavors of black raspberry, plums, roasted herb, and mint. This beauty could be enjoyed now with a nice ribeye steak or leg of lamb since it shows incredible balance for such a concentrated wine.
