Pravis
Steep slopes of the Dolomiti Mountains, veined by slabs of granite and graced by medieval castles, mirror lakes, and a vital Mediterranean breeze. This is where Pravis's vines grow, with roots as resilient as those of Trentino people. For Pravis, the meanings of being Trentino and living in this rugged alpine environment are necessarily entwined with their winemaking philosophy. They have been tending their vineyards for over thirty years, never doubting the importance of working in complete environmental harmony, and their rural and enological cultures converge in the adage that to each place is “its own” vine. Pravis produces a variety of distinctive wines, each according to its respective ecosystem: of the white grape varieties, which are the true jewels of winemaking in this Valle dei Laghi, there's the intriguing and unique Nosiola, an autochthonous varietal, the protagonist among the other better known varietals as Chardonnnay, Sauvignon, Riesling, Pinot Grigio and the aromatic Müller-Thurgau. The hilly vineyards surrounding Castel Madruzzo and Castel Toblino have been renowned for growing grapes since the Romans, with varietals that during centuries have acquired historical significance for Trentino, such as the humble Schiava, the Negrara, Lagrein, Teroldego, and a host of more international types, such as Merlot, Cabernet, Pinot Noir and Syrah.
