San Osvaldo
The S. Osvaldo winery is located in Loncon di Annone in Veneto, on the border with Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in one of the most suitable areas of
Veneto for vine-growing: this land produces the worldwide famous and
appreciated Lison-Pramaggiore DOC wines.
S. Osvaldo was founded in the 1930s by the Hungarian Baron Lajos Babos.
Year after year, the company's quality has grown, as have its accolades.
In 2004, S. Osvaldo was taken over by Armando Serena,
the owner of the Treviso-based Montelvini and the Marche-based
Valdinevola. S. Osvaldo has therefore joined one of Italy's main wine
producers. Although the winery maintains its strategic independence,
such alliance allows it further to enlarge its scope and commercially
expand.
S. Osvaldo focuses on the typical vines of the DOC Lison Pramaggiore
area: Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Lison Classico, Cabernet and Merlot.
Furthermore, over thirty years ago, S. Osvaldo rediscovered the
Red-stalked Refosco which was by that time disappearing: it was
therefore the first winery in Veneto to start cropping this plant in
grand style, making its wine famous throughout Italy and the world.
