β€œThe 2008 β€œ8” Chardonnay was Winemaker Luc Morlet's second Chardonnay crafted at Vineyard 7&8. It shows even more depth and seamless character than the great 2007 vintage.

This chardonnay exhibits a bright golden color, with an intense and complex bouquet of candied lemon, citrus oils, orange blossom, ripe William pear, intermixed with notes of crushed stone and a hint of hazelnut. Full bodied with a cream and seamless texture, the 2008 has a purity and lingering finish of mineral notes that highlight the white volcanic rocky soils from the estate.”

- Wine Spectator

From the Vineyard 7 & 8 website:

100% estate fruit from our vineyards located between 1,800-2,020 ft elevation. The 2008 season began after a relatively dry winter and free of spring frost thanks to our natural mountain-air circulation. Rains in May at bloom brought some shattering to the clusters leading to a small and concentrated crop. The ripening season was characterized by hot sunny afternoons and wide thermal amplitude, providing optimum conditions for for full flavor and phenolic maturation.

Hand-picked at physiological ripeness in mid September 2008. Whole-cluster pressed and barrel fermented with wild yeast, and a weekly batonnage. This wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered, with 100% malolactic fermentation.
