QUARTER III TRAVEL | COLORADO
Locations Wines Spain & France Trip by Angelina Acosta, Sales | September 19-23
We were so fortunate to be on a trip like this. We began our trip in Spain where we visited the Locations winery and stayed in a castle. The winery is located in Raiimat, Spain. They bottle E (España), F (France), and I (Italy) in this facility. We all gained a new appreciation for how much work goes into making these wines and it was interesting to learn how in-depth the process is from start to finish. Everyone working at Locations is extremely hands-on in every aspect, and you can tell how passionate they all are about their jobs. I'm proud to represent these wines and I can't wait to sell more!

Michael David Winery Reggae & Rhone Festival in Lodi, CA by Heather Hager, Manager | August 21
Hanging out in Lodi with the amazing Phillips family is something everyone should do once in their life! Our adventures included canoeing and SUP paddle boarding, a trip to the barrel facility and a barrel tasting. We also enjoyed the comforts of Bare Ranch and the Reggae and Rhone event at the winery with the Talking Dreads (yes, they did some Reggae covers of Talking Heads songs). The food, friendship and hospitality of all the Michael David family is no "Freakshow", it is the real deal. Drink Lodi!

Spain Trip with Valkyrie Selections by Evan Kell | September 19
What really struck me about Spain was it's almost primitive wine industry. It is still dominated by cooperatives producing bulk wine, and the Spanish people do not seem very interested in consuming fine, boutique wine. This is why it was so refreshing to visit the wineries represented by Valkyrie Selections and to meet the next generation of passionate winemakers recovering nearly extinct varietals and saving ancient vineyards from being ripped up.
Tony Sarrion at Mustiguillo treats Bobal with respect and as a result makes world-class wine leagues above any other Bobals in Spain. Dani and Maria at Azul y Garanza recently purchased a 90 year old, .3 Hectare vineyard of Garnacha in the middle of nowhere demonstrating their determination to maintain history and restore Spain's wine industry to a place of international respect. From Joan Simo to Dit Cellars to Ercavio and all of the remaining Valkyrie Selections producers, this is a portfolio with a common theme: great wines that respect tradition and show terroir made by the next generation of super star winemakers. We are all very fortunate to represent these wines, and I look forward to taking them into the market again.
